Queens Crystal Garden Restaurant (Jupiter St.): A First Impressions Review

A spur-of-the-moment dinner brought us to Queens Crystal Garden Restaurant along Jupiter Street in Makati. I didn’t expect The Boyfriend to be very interested in trying out Indian cuisine, but I was more than happy to oblige. This wasn’t going to be my first time to eat Indian cuisine, but this was my first at Queens’.

It took us quite some time to figure out what we’ll be ordering. We were very careful not to over-order since there were only the two of us, and we weren’t feeling very hungry. Just imagine the look on our faces when the Masala Dosha, which was recommended by the one who took our orders, arrived to our table. It took me several minutes to recover from the shock. It was HUGE!

masala dosha

Masala Dosha – Regular (Php219.00). It’s a very thin and crisp crepe which is stuffed with spiced potatoes. I liked this, but it was really big and we had to take the rest home.

keema mutter

Next came the Keema Mutter (Php359.00). It’s a dish made with yummy stewed minced lamb and peas. It’s very flavorful and was great to eat with the basmati rice. I’m not sure with The Boyfriend, but I really loved this!

chicken tandoori

Our last dish for the night was the Chicken Tandoori (Php360.00). I wasn’t expecting much when The Boyfriend decided to order this since I’ve had mediocre experiences with other restaurants’ version of this dish: The chicken is usually dry and a little difficult to eat. Just imagine my delight when I ate the Chicken Tandoori from Queens’ and found it very tender, flavorful and juicy! ♥ It’s probably the best Chicken Tandoori I’ve had so far and I highly recommend it to people who’ll be trying out this restaurant. 🙂

extras

Just a little extra for me to share: These were served before the food came out and being the curious person that I am, I was trying out the green sauce when we were approached by (I’m assuming) the owner of the restaurant. She asked if it was our first time to dine at Queens and even told us what the sauce was made of and that it could be eaten with basmati rice alone. She offered to get us some Papadum, but I had to decline because we already ordered an appetizer and I wasn’t sure if we will be able to finish everything. She was such a pleasant lady, very friendly and it’s such a shame that we weren’t able to talk to her before we left since she wasn’t in the dining area when we were already ready to leave; we could have gotten her name. 🙁

Because of her and the good food, The Boyfriend and I have decided that we will definitely return to eat at Queens. I’ll try to bring my brothers along next time. 🙂

I probably survived because of the Chicken Tandoori; It was the only non-spicy dish we had and it was delish!
