Last Sunday was Father’s Day and the family and I found ourselves at Peri-Peri Grill House at Greenhills to celebrate. We were there early since we knew how packed restaurants can get whenever there’s an occasion. My eldest brother was in charge of ordering the dishes for that meal; I only reminded him to order a little more than usual so that we won’t feel like the food wasn’t enough for the five of us. 🙂
Caesar Salad (Php225.00). A serving of this salad is sure to make an appearance on our table whenever Dad’s dining with us. Not that I’m complaining, though. 😛 Sadly, Peri-Peri’s serving was pretty small for its price and it didn’t exactly satisfy five individuals.
Jumbo Platter (Php1,100.00). This was the main star of the show: Two grilled whole chickens served with two huge platters of java rice. I am happy to announce that our family did not finish this entire platter; we had to take home a quarter or so. I honestly don’t think it’s because we can’t. We were just saving room for the little treats which we will be giving ourselves after the meal. 😛
Mons ordered some sides to go with our meal: Four bowls of coleslaw and two bowls of buttered corn and carrots. Each bowl costs Php38.00. Prior to writing this blog post and looking at the receipt which Mom kept for me, I thought that the sides were part of the Jumbo Platter. Apparently, they’re not. 😐
By the time we finished lunch, the restaurant was almost full and I was really glad that we were able to avoid the madness. Peri-Peri gave away free bottles of their signature Hot Peri-Peri Sauce for Father’s Day and we received one. It’s now a neat addition to our collection of sauces at home. 🙂
I’m excited to share with you what we bought for our post-meal drinks:
THESE were what we were saving room in our tummies for! I was so thrilled to finally be able to try Happy Lemon after hearing people rave about their Rock Salt with Cheese drinks, and yes, I finally understand what the commotion was all about. That creamy, frothy layer at the top is heaven sent! “Kiam Tee, Kiam Tee” [salty sweet, salty sweet] as my Mom loves to say.
Mons liked his cocoa version so much that he’s already looking forward to getting himself another serving in the future. Pointyman, on the other hand, decided to leave the rock salt and cheese madness to us and went with a serving of Lemon Yakult. It was also refreshingly good!
Happy Lemon, you now have a place in my heart. 🙂
**Happy Lemon now has a branch open at the 4th floor of Eastwood Mall in Libis, Quezon City.
