Swish Mouthwash and Breath Spray

Since I love discovering and enjoying different types of food, I have to make sure that my gums and teeth are in tip top shape. I have my own effective dental hygiene routine I follow, but will admit that it doesn’t always include the use of a mouthwash. I don’t mind using them whenever they’re available at home, but it’s not something I require. When I received a package from Unilab Philippines containing several Swish items to try, I took it as an opportunity to see if I should start updating my routine.

Swish mouthwash variants

The photo above shows some of Swish’s available variants: (from left to right) Arctic Cool, Mangosteen Mint and Peppermint Fresh.

My problem with most mouthwashes I’ve tried before is the awful burning sensation I get, signalling that the thing might be too strong for me. I became curious when I learned that Swish is said to be alcohol-free. I tried all three variants on different days and noticed that I still experienced a slight burning feeling each time. Thankfully, they weren’t as painful compared to the times I used a different brand. If I had to pick a favorite among the three, I would choose the Mangosteen Mint because of its fruity undertone. I thought it was a nice change from the usual plain minty ones.

Without telling anyone my experience, I asked Dad and Mom if they were willing to try the products out; both of them agreed. After using the products, Mom said she couldn’t stand the burning sensation she felt, even when using Peppermint Fresh, which is supposed to be the weakest among the three. Dad, on the other hand, preferred the strongest solution (Arctic Chill). In the end, we all agreed that Swish had pleasant flavors and left our teeth and mouth feeling really clean.

A positive thing to note is how easy it was to use Swish. There’s no need for you to add water to the solution; just take the recommended amount (20mL) to use for 30 seconds and you’re done! Please don’t forget that you’re not supposed to swallow it. 😉

Swish breath spray

For those who’re always on the go, you can still maintain fresh breath by toting Swish’s Peppermint Fresh breath spray (SRP: Php105.00) with you. It’s available in a handy 10mL spray bottle that you can easily slip inside your bag. My Mom and I tried using this and we both found it pretty neat. It had a very light mint flavor which reminded us of the Mentos’ spearmint candies.

I’ve only had the chance to try the Swish mouthwash for a short period of time, so I still can’t say for sure if it’s going to earn a permanent spot in my own routine.  Despite that fact, I still think Swish can be a good product for those who’re looking for a decent mouthwash in the market. They’re available in a lot of local supermarkets and drug stores and aren’t that expensive either.
