I used to enjoy spending several days celebrating my birthday. It was one day for different groups of people and during that time, I felt that that was really how things were supposed to be. Fast forward a few years later, I got tired of the whole crazy socializing thing and decided to make some changes. I now prefer a quiet meal with people who matter the most: my family.
Last December was no different when my parents and I dropped by Dolce Latte along Quezon Avenue to celebrate. I’ve always liked how the place exuded such sophistication and how it felt like a safe haven from the chaotic and noisy Quezon Avenue.
Each of us chose something off the menu, depending on what we felt like eating for the day. I was tempted to order several dishes at once, but decided against it for the sake of my waistline. :p Regardless, everything we had that day was delicious, and the service was spot-on. I do admit that this place serves dishes with a hefty price tag, but for special occasions, this isn’t such a bad place to consider.
A carafe of the Mango Ginger Juice was good enough for 4 glasses.
We wished the serving size for the Spinach and Artichoke Fondue was a bit bigger to accommodate our appetites. :p
Their Carbonara scored some major points with Dad because of the noodles’ texture. He said he felt that they were freshly made. If he had one complaint, it was that he felt the serving size was too small.
The Dolce Latte Club Sandwich was generously packed with chicken, eggs and all its other ingredients. Mom liked this a lot, but just managed to eat half of her sandwich before feeling full. Dad happily finished off the rest of it!
My Creamy Chicken Paprika didn’t look like much either when it was placed in front of me, but in the end it still managed to fill me up quite nicely. Honestly, the chicken was a bit on the dry side, but the sauce provided rescued it well.
Like I said in my Instagram post at that time, a birthday is not quite a birthday without cake, so I ordered a slice of their Pistachio Berry Cake to share with Mom. It was light, creamy and with just the right amount of sweetness to it. This cake exceeded all my expectations and became a personal favorite, despite the very minimal amount of chocolate in it. 🙂
**Dolce Latte is located at 1616 Quezon Avenue, South Triangle, Quezon City near Hi-Top Supermarket. This branch is closed during Sundays, but you may visit their other branch at the 5th Floor of SM Megamall’s Mega Fashion Hall.
