Flatiron (Uptown Mall): A First Impressions Review

S and I had some free time one Sunday to grab lunch together before we attended a family affair. We roamed Bonifacio Global City a bit before deciding to take a peek at the newest Uptown Mall. There still weren’t a lot of establishments open when we dropped by, but it did look like it would be interesting once all the spaces are occupied.

Uptown Mall

We wanted to try something new, so we strolled into Flatiron to check if they still had seats available for two. We didn’t know what to expect from the place except that it’s part of the 1771 group of restaurants. Thankfully, two small tables were still free and we were seated almost immediately. I felt kinda bad for the bigger groups still waiting in line, but that’s what I dislike about dining in big groups. It’s just way harder to get a table if you don’t reserve beforehand.

We enjoyed our visit from the time we were seated until it was time for us to leave the establishment. The server who attended to us was so friendly and was helpful whenever we asked for or about something.

garlic and rosemary fries

The food we ordered were all delicious too! S and I enjoyed the garlic and rosemary fries we ordered for starters; Salty and perfect with the aioli.

spaghetti with olive oil and tomatoes

I’m currently trying to eat less meat, so I ordered the Spaghettini Capri. The pasta was tossed in a simple concoction of olive oil, garlic, anchovies, tomatoes and lemon. S and I loved how this no-frills dish wowed us with its mild flavors.

Flatiron Brisket 6

S tried the Flatiron Brisket 6, the establishment’s specialty. The meat was slow-cooked for 6 hours and S found the brisket to be really fork tender. He said the meat did look dry at first, but it was quite the opposite once you started digging in. You can request for some of the cooking juices in case you still think you’ll need extra liquid for the meat.

coffee pie slice

We didn’t plan on ordering dessert, but I caved once S pointed out that coffee pie was on the menu. The first forkful had me smiling like I won the biggest jackpot in Mega Lotto history! Everything from the coffee flavored mousse-like filling to the chocolate cashew crust had me swooning. I love love love this pie and admittedly, didn’t want to share it. S did sneak in a few bites before I declared the rest to be mine. :p

*Flatiron can be found at the ground floor of Uptown Place Mall, 36th Street Corner 9th Avenue, Bonifacio Global City. Their operating hours are from 12 noon until 12 midnight.
